About Us

Opal & Ember Vintage was created by two best friends who met in university and developed a shared obsession for tarot readings, embarking on intense 8+ hour thrifting days, and watching egregiously dramatic reality TV shows. We've grown and thrived through it all, fueled by laughter, compassion, and unwavering support.

Our story is not just about friendship; it's a celebration of resilience, unconditional love, and the magic that happens when two individuals, seemingly worlds apart, come together. As we navigate life's twists and turns, Kiera and Meaghan embody the essence of Opal & Ember—unique, empowering, and unapologetically ourselves.

I have had a love of finding unique, vintage clothing since I was a teenager. I would do all my back to school shopping at vintage shops and thrift stores because I loved having one of a kind items that no one else had. Every piece of vintage clothing has a story and there is something magical about becoming a part of that item’s history. I also love the sustainability of shopping second hand and being able to find new owners for amazing pieces that someone will bring new life to. My current fashion obsessions are anything linen and wide leg trousers.

My journey with fashion started later in life. Growing up in a household where I wasn’t able to express myself with fashion the way that I wanted to. Once I moved out on my own, I was able to start exploring my love of the goth aesthetic. Dark colours, florals, and dramatic embellishes give me life. Being able to source items second hand has allowed me to play with and evolve my style in a sustainable way. I am always experimenting with new looks and I hope that Opal and Ember will encourage others to find their style as well.

Thank you supporting our small BIPOC, queer-owned business. By choosing second-hand fashion, you contribute to saving the planet and preserving the natural resources of this beautiful country we call home. We are very fortunate to live and work in unceded Secwepemcúlecw, the traditional territory of the Secwepemc Nation. Here's to a decade of friendship, sustainable choices, and turning away from the conventional – because just like Opal & Ember, we are all anything but ordinary.
